Frequently Asked Questions...
Has DJ Ray done an event at my venue?
Most likely I have… I have performed at most area venues but with new ones opening each year there is a chance that I haven’t.
Can I meet DJ Ray prior to booking my wedding?
Yes! Meet Ray by appointment at his studio, via FaceTime or Skype. Your schedule is crazy, so Ray is available at your convenience. Call 724.651.2688. Click here to set up an appointment.
How do I reserve my date?
If your date is available, you’ll get a written agreement to sign and return with the booking fee. Once that is received you will be set up with your online client area to start planning. Click here to schedule a consultation!
Do I really need to hire a DJ, can’t I just play a Spotify playlist?
You can… you will still need to rent all of the equipment, have someone adjust the volume and make announcements and of course help with the planning or coordinating. The cost to rent two sets of everything (one for a backup) that is needed to perform a wedding is about as expensive as what a DJ charges.
What does a typically DJ charge for a wedding?
The cost to hire a DJ varies widely… from as little as a couple of hundred dollars to as much as several thousand dollars. Remember, sometimes you get what you pay for and the best way to know is to read online reviews from past clients and see what they have to say about their experience.
Are online reviews important when booking a DJ?
If you have never been to a wedding that they have performed at, if not then absolutely! It is so easy and inexpensive to get online reviews I wonder why anyone would not be getting them? Online reviews are like credit… no reviews should be considered just as bad as negative reviews… Click here to view DJ Ray’s reviews!
Do all DJs steal the spotlight of the event by talking/singing on the mic and playing games?
Nope.. I am as interactive as you want me to be. I can lead line dances if you would like, or I can stay being my DJ booth and keep the party rolling from there. If I am on the mic saying something it is either to inform everyone what is going or for a very specific purpose. I do not use the mic just to hear my voice!
What music will Ray play?
You’ll discuss your music preferences with Ray for cocktails, dinner and dancing. You’ll give Ray 10 Must Plays and 10 Do Not Plays and he’s happy to take requests. Ray’s music library is updated weekly, covers all decades and genres, is legally purchased and includes “clean” radio edits.
*P.S. DJ Ray buys and OWNS every song and will not need an internet connection to stream music from Spotify or YouTube.
Do I have to do all of the traditional events at my wedding?
No! We will work together and set a timeline with only the important events to you and if there are any special unique things you would like to add we will make that happen as well.
What kind of equipment does Ray bring and what if something breaks down?
DJ Ray uses only top of the line professional speakers and microphones. Music is played at a comfortable volume so everyone can talk. DJ Ray is all about redundancy and contingency plans – just ask him how many ways he’ll have your music backed up…
What is Ray’s DJ style?
Dressed in a classic black suite or the attire you choose, Ray is the exact opposite of the stereotypical loud, obnoxious, cheesy DJ. Prepared, polished and professional, Ray will make only the necessary announcements and direct the flow of events. Yes! Your wedding will be classy, elegant and FUN!
